Come and Worship With Us

Here at Piney Grove our mission is to bring people to God through faith in Jesus Christ, and one of the most important ways we do this is through Worship. Worship has a very important and meaningful part in one’s relationship with God. At 11:00 on Sunday mornings, we offer a service that is blended in style with our choir providing music as well as leading the congregation in the singing of hymns and praise songs. Worship services often include special music, drama, and liturgical dance. Our service provides a time of meet and greet, prayer time, scripture reading, and message from Pastor Kyle. Worshippers may choose to sing from a hymn book or from the worship bulletin or they may choose to use the words projected on the screens. Above all, we desire worship to be a comfortable yet spiritually intimate experience with God and one another.

During the 11:00 service, children are invited down to the front of the church for Children’s Time. This part of the service, led by Jean Ingram, provides an interactive biblical lesson for the children and usually ends with some type of take-home gift. After Children’s Time, many of our children will depart the sanctuary for the nursery while others remain with their families for the remainder of the service. At Piney Grove, the safety of our children is of uttermost importance and we adhere to a Safe Sanctuary Policy that requires training and checks on all workers in children’s ministry.

Our Pastor usually follows the liturgical calendar during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost, but often veers from the lectionary to offer an engaging sermon series that he deems relevant. We begin our journey through lent by imposing the ashes, in one of the few Ash Wednesday services in the area. We conclude the lenten journey with a Palm Sunday service and a Maundy Thursday service where we partake of communion.  On Easter Sunday morning, we share together in a Sunrise Service, a Celebration Breakfast as well as an 11:00 AM worship service. Throughout the year, we celebrate God at work in our community with Baptist Mission’s Day, Graduation Sunday  and Homecoming.

In addition, we celebrate women in ministry each February by inviting a gifted female preacher on what is referred to as Martha Stearns Marshall Sunday. Each summer, we gather for worship at Stone Mountain State Park in a time of worship in nature. Each winter, we host a series of renewal services that usually take place on consecutive Sunday evenings. Please check out The Grove for a worship schedule or check out our online calendar that is published one year in advance. We look forward to worshiping with you!
