Paul Danley – Minister of Worship
Paul is a native of Surry County and has a passion for people and rural ministry. He enjoys spending time with his family and dear friends, watching the Duke Blue Devils, and loves chicken and dumplings, coconut cake, and coconut pie. Paul is a 1994 honor and North Carolina scholar graduate of North Surry High School, and a 1995 honor graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA. He began his career in funeral service in 1995 as an embalmer at Moody Funeral Services, Inc. in Mount Airy and then, in January 1999, he began serving as a funeral director.
Paul has been a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church since January 1994. Through the years, he has served as a Deacon, choir member, Choir Chimes Director, Cemetery Fund Treasurer, newsletter editor, and a member of various committees, including the Cemetery Committee, Memorial Committee, Pastor Search Committee, Minister of Youth and Education Search Committee, and Minister of Music Search Committee. When the Rev. Matthew K. Johnson left Piney Grove in the summer of 2011, Paul became the volunteer worship leader. As God led Paul’s journey with us as a worship leader, Paul sensed a more revered and Spirit-led calling in his life. On Sunday morning, February 10, 2013, Paul was called as Minister of Worship of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He receives great fulfillment in watching families and individuals grow in their faith and experience sacred rhythm through the art of worship.
Paul is truly a self-less and loyal champion of those less fortunate, and as a lover of life, humankind, knowledge, and music. Paul is the loving and devoted husband of DeAnne Head Danley and the loving father of Will and Mae.
