What Piney Grove Offers

Piney Grove Baptist Church provides opportunities for all ages to grow in their faith.  Below is a list of ministries that are offered by Piney Grove.

 Sunday School

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18a

Sunday School classes are offered for all ages (preschool to senior adult) on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m.  No matter who you are, you will find a class focused on the study of the Scriptures and deepening your faith in Christ within a caring community.

Deacon Ministry

Our Deacon Ministry is at the heart of our church’s calling to love and serve one another and the wider community. The New Testament Greek word diakonos means “helper” or “servant.” Our church calls both women and men to the office of deacon. All deacons take seriously their calling to be Piney Grove’s servant-leaders and help us live into our God-given mission.

Deacon Ministry teams serve others through the great joys and sorrows of life. The Widow/Widower Team serves these beloved members of our congregation. The Benevolence Team responds to community crisis needs that are brought to the church’s attention. The Ordinance Team assists the ministry staff with the Lord’s Supper and Baptism.

Children

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Luke 18:16b

Piney Grove values children in the life of the church.  It is our goal as a church family to raise children that are Growing, Reaching, Open, Versed (in scripture), and Engaged.  The children’s ministry brings children of all ages together for Bible study, missions, recreation, crafts, snacks, and music.

In addition to children’s Sunday school, each worship service features a special message for our children.  On Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m., our children participate in Children in Action, a coed missions education program where boys and girls learn about missions, pray for missions, and do missions.

Youth

“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth…” Ecclesiastes 12:1a

We believe youth are not only the church of the future, but are a vital part of the church today.  Youth are active in worship and fellowship at Piney Grove.  The youth take part in special events, retreats, mission trips, volunteering in the community, and Passport Camps.

We invite students from grades 6 through 12 to come and be a part of a of youth searching for their place in God’s kingdom.
Our weekly activities start on Sunday mornings with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. Sunday evening gatherings are a time of fun, fellowship, and Bible study from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

College

Our College Ministry provides opportunities for college students to connect when they’re home from college, and small group opportunities for those who remain local for college.  In addition, we send cards and care packages to college students who are at school far from home, through our Student of the Week ministry.

Senior Adults

Our senior adults are some of the most valued members of our church community.  Our active Senior Adult ministry takes monthly outings to various points of interest in the area and participates in all the discipleship and service ministries of our church.  In addition, Pastor Kyle hosts a fall and spring Bible study on a morning during the week.  The Senior Adult Committee plans Senior Adult activities and events, and there is typically a monthly fellowship opportunity for our senior adults in addition to other church programming.

Special Friends

Piney Grove truly values persons with special needs. Each Sunday, residents from Peace Lily group home in Dobson worship and gather for Bible study at our church. We offer a Special Friends Sunday School class with curriculum specifically geared towards the learning needs of persons with mental disabilities. During our worship services, our Special Friends often contribute with music, prayers, and testimonies. They also make environmentally-friendly soaps and household cleaners to raise money for missions.

Please contact any member of our staff to find out how you can get involved with the many ministries of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
